Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, a former draper's apprentice, Burberry is a luxury fashion house located in London, England. Burberry introduced the gabardine fabric, which led to the creation of the trenchcoat during the First World War. The Burberry brand shot to fame for its line of outdoor attire, where many great explorers chose the gabardine fabric for its protective and lightweight qualities, to deal with even the harshest conditions like in Antarctica.
